DfE Reasonable Force Guidance: What Headteachers Need to Know

Webinar for school leaders around updated DfE restrictive intervention and reasonable force guidance.

The updated DfE guidance for schools in England around reasonable force, seclusion, and restrictive interventions comes into effect in April 2026 and for many school leaders, it raises important questions about compliance, staff training, incident reporting, and policy alignment.

This webinar is designed to provide clarity, reassurance, and practical next steps. We will break down the key elements of the guidance, including statutory recording requirements, the role of de-escalation, and the importance of understanding pupils’ individual needs. You will also hear how these principles reflect long-established Team Teach best practice, and how schools can create a culture that protects staff, supports pupils and prioritises dignity and wellbeing.

Delivered by Jonathan Newport, a former school leader and educator, this session is grounded in real school contexts and designed to help you move forward with clarity, confidence and compliance.
